ChatGPT plugins library

ChatGPT connects through plugins. One directory.

Skills, connected apps, app templates, and extensions from OpenAI’s public Plugin Directory, searchable in one place.

The current model is plugins: one installable package that can hold skills, connected apps, app templates, and extensions. The public Plugin Directory is searchable without sign-in and shows no total count, so this page claims none. Checked October 29, 2026. Which plugins you can install varies by plan, workspace, role, and region.

01 - How connections work

Plugins, not connectors

Do not mistake the old connectors name for the current model.

01

Plugins

The installable package. A plugin can include skills, connected apps, app templates, or extensions. Plugins are shared between ChatGPT and Codex, and the directory is the same in both.

02

Connected apps and skills

A connected app links ChatGPT to an external service, such as Google Drive or Slack, over MCP. A skill is reusable instructions and workflow guidance. Some plugins are skills-only and need no account connection. First use prompts the user to connect and discloses what data may be shared, and access can be revoked at any time.

03

App templates and extensions

App templates are admin-configured app setups, not ready to use until an admin configures and publishes them. Extensions add sidebar apps, conversation panels, file viewers and editors, and deep links. Extensions arrived at DevDay 2026; a recap describes availability as all plans, which is reported and should be checked in the Help Center.

02 - The library

Search the plugins

60 of 60 plugins. Every entry below was listed in the signed-out public directory on October 29, 2026. The directory does not state a connection type per entry, so types are described at the platform level above. Categories are the directory’s own.

About these links: each name links to the company behind the plugin, usually its main website. Cask & Hound does not control those sites, and a listing here is not an endorsement or a guarantee the plugin is available in your account. Two entries carry no link because the directory listing names no vendor. Links were last checked October 29, 2026.

03 - Beyond the directory

Old names, retiring GPTs, and custom MCP

What to know before trusting a list that mixes eras.

01

The old names are history

Original ChatGPT plugins from 2023 to 2024 used an OpenAPI manifest and are retired. The 2025 connectors beta became apps, the App Directory opened in December 2025, and the Plugin Directory replaced it on July 9, 2026. The former address, chatgpt.com/apps, renders no directory when signed out. Do not cite it as the directory.

02

GPTs are retiring

Custom GPTs and the GPT Store are the legacy customization lane. Personal accounts can no longer create or publish new GPTs, and retirement is planned for December 11, 2026, with February 11, 2027 for FedRAMP and approved deferrals. Migration carries instructions to skills, knowledge files to reference files, and connected apps over. Custom actions do not transfer, and migrated GPTs become read-only.

03

Custom MCP servers

Admins and authorized users can add a custom MCP server from the Plugins page. Full MCP, including write actions, is Business and Enterprise and Edu only. Pro is read and fetch only, and Plus is not listed for custom MCP connections in the current Help Center. Custom MCP has no geo restrictions, runs on web only, and is not available on mobile.

Reported, not listed: at the October 2025 launch, OpenAI named seven pilot partners: Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow. Eleven more partners were reported from coverage of the same announcement: DoorDash, Target, Uber, Instacart, Peloton, OpenTable, Khan Academy, Thumbtack, Tripadvisor, The Fork, and AllTrails. None of the eleven are presented above as directory entries, because their current directory status was not verified in this research. Coursera and Zillow did not appear in the Popular and home views captured, which does not mean they are absent. A figure of more than 1,400 plugins circulates in secondary coverage, but no OpenAI source was found for it, so this page claims no total. On Deep Research: the current Help Center position is that Deep Research can use custom apps for read and fetch actions only, not write actions, and no full current official Deep Research connector list was found, so the June 2025 beta list is not presented here as current.

04 - For developers

How a plugin gets listed

The submission and review flow, as documented by OpenAI. No fee, revenue-share term, or developer program membership was found in the official docs read, so none is claimed here.

  1. Build the package. Build the plugin package as a ZIP, following the plugin package guide and guidelines. Plugin Creator in the directory can help prepare it.
  2. Upload it. Open the Plugins page on the Developer Platform and upload a new or existing plugin. Organisation owners can submit; other members need the Apps Management Write role. Complete individual or business verification to publish under a name or company name.
  3. Pass automated checks. Upload the ZIP. Automated validation and checks run, covering metadata, skills findings, and an MCP tool scan. Resolve required findings and re-upload as needed.
  4. Connect the MCP server. For MCP plugins, connect the single MCP server per plugin over a stable public HTTPS endpoint, complete domain verification by hosting a challenge token, and complete authentication. API key declarations cannot be completed in the portal.
  5. Supply review information. Reviewer credentials on a dedicated test account with no MFA or magic links, five positive test cases, three negative test cases, a video walkthrough URL, and release notes.
  6. Submit for review. Submit with policy attestations. Feedback arrives by email, only one review can be active per plugin, and a rejection can be appealed by replying to the rejection email. On approval, the developer chooses when to publish. After publication, hosted MCP servers are scanned daily.

Plugins that display an OpenAI Verified badge have been reviewed by OpenAI for quality, reliability, and usefulness, with verification status reviewable by workspace owners and admins in the Admin console. The badge does not replace an organization’s own privacy, security, or vendor review. The docs name the reviewer only as the review team; no separate review body, SLA, or reviewer identity is published.

05 - Questions

Plugin questions, answered

Straight answers on the directory, eligibility, and what retired.

What is a ChatGPT plugin?

A plugin is the installable package that connects ChatGPT to other tools and workflows. It can include skills (reusable instructions), connected apps (links to external services over MCP), app templates (admin-configured setups), and extensions (sidebar apps and panels). Plugins are shared between ChatGPT and Codex.

Is there a public directory, and how many plugins are in it?

Yes, at chatgpt.com/plugins, searchable without sign-in, with categories. It shows no total count, and no official total was found. A figure of more than 1,400 plugins circulates in secondary coverage with no OpenAI source behind it, so this page claims no total. The signed-out view is the public subset; the Help Center says the directory shows plugins available to your plan and workspace when signed in.

Why do some plugins say they are unavailable to me?

Availability depends on plan, workspace, role, region, and what the plugin includes. At the October 2025 launch, apps were limited to logged-in users outside the EEA, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. No dated OpenAI announcement lifting that exclusion was found in this research, so do not read the exclusion as current fact. The current Help Center wording is that availability varies by plan, workspace, role, and region.

Can I connect a custom MCP server on my plan?

Full MCP, including write actions, is Business and Enterprise and Edu only, on ChatGPT web. Pro is read and fetch only. Plus is not listed for custom MCP connections in the current Help Center article, which supersedes older guides that described Plus Developer Mode with full MCP. Custom MCP connections have no geo restrictions.

What happened to GPTs?

They are retiring. Personal accounts cannot create or publish new GPTs, and retirement is planned for December 11, 2026, with February 11, 2027 for FedRAMP and approved deferrals. Existing GPTs remain usable until retirement. Migration moves instructions to skills and knowledge files to reference files, but custom actions do not transfer, and migrated GPTs become read-only.

Can Cask & Hound build a plugin for my product?

Yes. We build the MCP server or plugin package, prepare the submission, and test it end to end. Start with a conversation about what your users would ask ChatGPT to do with your product.

Want ChatGPT connected to your stack, or your product connected to ChatGPT?

We connect teams to the services above, and we build MCP servers and plugin submissions for products that should be reachable from an agent. First call is about your goals and whether we are a fit.
